Work With Me

Freelance writing and editing

In addition to mainstream media work, I also provide consultative freelance services for corporate, higher ed, non-profit and tech clients across the U.S. I am available on either a retainer or individual project basis.

Public speaking

Over the years I have enjoyed speaking with various civic organizations, chambers of commerce, and community fellowship groups. Most of these engagements related to my former post as the founding community editor of the Vestavia Voice and Hoover Sun newspapers, and from the publication of my book, Images of America: Vestavia Hills.

Post-cancer, I am most passionate in speaking with audiences whose lives have been affected by this disease, whether from the perspective of patient, caregiver, or loved one.

Drawing from my own experience, including other hardships that have nothing to do with cancer, I am grateful for the opportunity to motivate, inspire, and empower those who are facing all manner of adversity.

Sponsorship inquiries and reprint requests

Full disclosure, I tend to recoil at the word “sponsorship.” My chief motivation for re-igniting the blog is two-fold:

Firstly, I am sharing what I lived and what I know from my own diagnosis, treatment and recovery to inform others affected by cancer.

Secondly, I am conceiving other blog series themes, and want this site to serve as “the keeping place” for the topics I am inspired to cover.

I absolutely have the aspiration to turn these ideas into a series of books, but the content and the audience must come first. While I’m working hard on that, please reach out if you’d like to explore agent representation, guest contributor opportunities, permissions to reprint or sponsorship.
