Maybe it’s sophomoric humor I long should have outgrown, but any recipe including the word “balls” gives me pause.
So let’s just call them Bites. Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bites*.
And I ate my first one after this morning’s workout.
With more than a little trepidation, I tried a small nibble – about the same sized bite my six year old takes when a healthy anything on his plate prompts yet another dinner standoff.
Holy tastebuds. How many of these can I eat?!
It was my first attempt working with whey protein powder. And flax seed. I’ll henceforth be buying these in bulk.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bites*
2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup Smucker’s Natural Creamy Peanut Butter
1/2 cup clover honey
1 small packet Sprouts Whey Vanilla Protein (25.5 g)
1/2 cup half and half
1/2 cup ground flax seed
1 tablespoon chia seed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 9 oz bag Lily’s Dark Chocolate Premium Baking Chips, 55% cacao
Pulse flax seed in blender until ground. Add all remaining ingredients and mix until blended. Transfer to mixing bowl, and using tablespoon measure, hand roll into individual bites.
